For our third installment in our mixtape series, we welcome a true underground architect: Jeremy “Elation” Olsen, founder of the Family Tree Collective. A staple of Maryland’s electronic music scene, Olsen has spent nearly three decades cultivating a multi-generational community of artists, DJs, and creatives, rooted in the same spirit of unity and discovery that first called him to the dancefloor.
The seed was planted in the ’90s Baltimore rave scene, where a feverish Thursday night at The Paradox set his path in motion. There at that iconic staple of Baltimore club history, he found more than music—he found belonging. What started as a personal journey soon grew into something greater: a movement, a family. The Family Tree Collective was born, its roots deep in the underground, its branches spanning generations.
